The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) has summarized all mining activities in Finland into a publication and maps (year 2010). Port of Kemi is the nearest universal port to mines in Northernmost Finland, Sweden and North-West Russia. Our location is recognized by project cargo suppliers. Attached brochure includes mines and current mineral projects as well as examples of implemented project cargos via Port of Kemi.
The InLoC project aims at creating better conditions for logistics operations in the Baltic Sea region by enhancing networking between logistics centres and their in-terest groups. Out of project’s 4 work packages (below) the Port of Kemi is espe-cially involved in WPs 1 and 4:
The Ajos deep-water harbour is substantially expanding. It is set to be finished in 2006. The name of the new harbour will be Lapland’s deep-water harbour, which in itself reflects how important the Port of Kemi concourse of sea and land transportation is for the entire Lapland area. The goal of the expansion is to create a logistics centre to serve all of Lapland.
