
Ajos is located approximately 10 km south of the City of Kemi. The distance from the Kemi Lighthouse to the Port is about 39 km. The minimum width of the channel is 100 m (328 feet) and depth 10 m (32.8 feet).
The southeastern end of the Port: Length 160 m, navigable depth 10 m, 30 meter-wide Ro-Ro ramp (berths 1 and 2). The northwestern end: - Length 190 m, navigable depth 7.7/6.7 m; the quay is linked to two railways.
The quay is 140 m wide. Electricity, fresh water and telecommunications connections available (berths 3 and 4).
Length: 283 m, Depth: 70 m. The quay is linked to two railways and is equipped with harbour cranes with a capacity of 6 tonnes. The construction capacity of the quay is 2 – 10 tonnes/m². Navigable depth of 8.7 m – 26 metre-wide Ro-Ro ramp. Electricity, fresh water and telecommunications connections available (berths 5, 6 and 7).

Quay I-IV are equipped with a mobile crane 7/6 - 12 tn lifting capacity + container crane.
The total length of the quays is approximately 810 m and the navigable depth is 7.0 m. Of the seven berths, one is designed for Sto-Ro ships unloading from the side and 1 is a normal Sto-Ro berth.
The harbour area is modern, well-lit and has both fresh water and electricity available. Underwater air pipes prevent the harbour basin from freezing in winter. All the quays and the harbour area are paved.
The area has large warehouses and a wide area especially for shipping chemicals that are used in the production of paper. The paper industry imposes special requirements, concerning e.g. reliability and thoroughness, on transportation and shipping. The quays are equipped with a mobile crane 7/6 - 12 tn lifting capacity.
